Mr. Máximo Cuñado, President and founder of Grupo Cuñado passed away at the age of 85 years old

Mr. Máximo Cuñado, President and founder of Grupo Cuñado passed away in Madrid at the age of 85 years old. Born in 1931 in Mecerreyes, he established the company Cuñado y Cia in 1963.

With 32 years and only 6 employees, he began his business career expanding its business to different Spanish cities as Alcalá de Henares, Tarragona, Gerona, Sevilla, Bilbao, Huelva, Barcelona, Ciudad Real, Tenerife, Las Palmas, Zaragoza, Vigo, Algeciras, Valencia, Valladolid and Gijon.

It is in 1978, when he decided to make the international leap with the opening of 14 branches in Mexico, Chile, Peru, Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador, USA, Canada, South Korea, China, Germany, France, UAE and Turkey.

Cuñado Group has completed 53 years of existence, maintaining its family-like character in its second generation, as his son Carlos David Cuñado is since last year 2010 the current president of the Group.

Last year 2014, the Government of Spain, after being proposed by the Minister of Employment and Social Security, Ms. Fátima Báñez, awarded Mr. Máximo Cuñado Alonso with the Gold Medal for Work Merit, n recognition of his entrepreneurial and working career.

The burial was held in privacy in the familiar pantheon in Mecerreyes (Burgos).

CUÑADO PERU, S.A., HAS BEEN APPOINTED AS ALFA LAVAL AUTHORIZED DISTRIBUTOR

CUÑADO PERU, S.A., the GRUPO CUÑADO branch in Perú, has been appointed as Alfa Laval Authorized Distributor for the industrial markets, including new equipment and Valves and Heat Exchangers spare parts.

With this agreement, CUÑADO PERU, S.A. maintains its strategy of growth by expanding the company’s product range, and improving its customer support service.

This new success joins to the one achieved last August 2015 by CUÑADO, S.A., when we were appointed as Alfa Laval Master Distributor for Spain and Portugal.

Throughout all of this time, he has carried out his everyday work with a great deal of commitment, absolute professionalism and dedication. GRUPO CUÑADO will be always his home and we wish him the best in his well-earned retirement.

Cuinter training sessions, a subsidiary of Grupo Cuñado

CUINTER, the subsidiary of GRUPO CUÑADO in Chile, leader in supplying piping and valves for the Oil&Gas and mining industries worldwide in its two main business lines (Projecs and Distribution), carried out some Training Days in the Cabo de Hornos and Intercontinental hotels in Punta de Arenas city. The event was held on May 24th, 25th and 27th, and different valves manufacturers were also involved.

Some of the attendants to our Training meetings were engineering, operation, maintenance and project managers of companies such as:

Participation of Cuñado Group Procurement & Project team in the XIX AERCE Conference

Last May 25th and 26th, the Project Director and the Procurement Manager of Grupo Cuñado participated in the Experts Lectures made at the XIX Conference of the Spanish Association of Purchasing, Contracting and Supply Professionals, which was held in Madrid, where managers of large companies and multinationals in the industrial, financial, oil & gas, telecommunications sectors,… gathered.

The lectures, presented by high level professionals, dealt about future trends, business models and new ideas in the corporate procurement.

Our Procurement Manager took part as a speaker at the Expert Panel of SRM – Supplier Relationship Management, presenting the Integral Supply System, developed and pioneered by Grupo Cuñado in the Oil & Gas area since 1980. She also explained how our strategic alliance with suppliers, based on reliable long-term relationships, allows us to offer to our customers a quality service that adds value to the project, in addition to obtaining significant cost and time savings in the project execution.

On April 19th we welcomed a group of visitors in representation of TÉCNICAS REUNIDAS Procurement Department.

The objective of the visit, especially directed towards newly incorporated employees, was to give a detailed introduction to our product range and manufacturing processes. In addition, we reviewed and analyzed the complete supply process, from the purchasing to delivery including the different supply chain milestones.

Last April 21st, Grupo Cuñado received the visit of one of our most important customers: Enagas, headed by Mr. Fernando López de Silanes, Head of Pipeline Engineering and Mr. Óscar Blázquez, Head of Pipeline Construction. They accompanied 7 people who recently joined the Enagas Engineering Dpt. Our main goal was to show them our facilities and introduce them our company, so they can know more closely our products and daily work. These visits are a vehicle through which Grupo Cuñado explains our philosophy of Customer service culture.

Visit of the Secretary of State for Commerce , Mr. Jaime García-Legaz, to Grupo Cuñado headquarters

Madrid, January 27th, 2016.- At the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness last October, Carlos D. Cunado, the President of Grupo Cunado, extended an invitation to the Secretary of State for Commerce, Jaime García Legaz, to visit the Group’s headquarters. He accepted the invitation, and visited the Grupo Cuñado headquarters yesterday in Alcalá de Henares, accompanied by Carlos D. Cuñado and Gloria Esteban Baturone, CEO of the Group.

The hosts introduced the Management Committee members to the Secretary before showing him the company’s campus. Mr. David de Pastors, Finances and Systems Manager, made a brief presentation of the Group for the visiting delegation.

Accompanied by José Antonio Campos, Supply Chain Manager of the Group, Mr. Jaime García-Legaz toured the 40,000 ft2 of facilities, which contains over 280,000 products. This location works as an operational center to provide complete logistics services throughout the country.

At the end of his visit, the delegation enjoyed a casual drink while Jaime García-Legaz shared lively conversations with the management members of Grupo Cuñado.

Sixth edition of the Technical Conferences held by Grupo Cuñado

On October 30th 2015, Grupo Cuñado held the sixth edition of our Technical Conferences, in the Palacio Municipal de Congresos in Madrid, gathering more than 700 industry experts related to the use of pipe, valves and fittings.

The event, masterfully led by Mr. Manuel Campo Vidal, included three presenters that headlined the Conference: Mr. Juan Pablo Riesgo (State Secretary for Employment and Social Security), Mr. Pedro Miró (Vice-president and CEO of CEPSA) and Ms. Cristina Lanzagorta (Manager of Business Solutions of Microsoft).

During the session, Mr. Claudio Oroquieta, Manager of the Flow Management Solutions division (FMS) of Grupo Cuñado, presented the new Valves Encyclopedia, a new milestone in our relationship with the market, providing a complete support and assistance tool, with careful attention to detail and editing.

In addition, a new model of control and comprehensive project management, called Cuñado 2.0, was presented by Mr. David de Pastors, Finances and Systems Manager of Grupo Cuñado, which certainly will revolutionize the mode of material supply, where for the first time, the total integration of all parties involved in the construction of industrial plants takes place.
